Who May Participate in Virtual Hoodoo?

International racers, Americans living in States currently mandating post-travel quarantine, any racer self-quarantining due to underlying health issues, or racers who are simply uncomfortable traveling during these crazy times.

What divisions are available?

ALL divisions. Virtual racers may opt for 300 or 500 miles, non-stop or stage race, solo, tandem, or relay team.

How does it work?

You create the route in your local area or using an indoor training app with the following equivalents:

For the Hoodoo 300 non-stop:  At least 290 miles with 17,000′ climbing in 27 hours or less.

For the Hoodoo 300 stage:  At least 290 miles with 17,000′ climbing over 2 consecutive dates with combined time of 27 hours or less.

Hoodoo 500 non-stop:  At least 510 miles with 30,000′ climbing in 48 hours or less.

Hoodoo 500 stage:  At least 510 miles with 30,000′ climbing over 3 consecutive days with combined time of 48 hours or less.

What are the rules?

In good faith and on the honor system, we ask all virtual racers to abide by the Official Rules of the actual event as they may apply in the virtual scenario.

Racers must be on course on the same dates as the actual event, and check in via email or text at the time station mileages listed on the Official Route for their virtual division so we may include their times in the webcast and results.

Races must email or text immediately upon completion and include a finisher photo for us to post in Hoodoo social media.

That’s it! Easy-peasy!

What proof of completion is required?

Each racer must upload their race activity to Strava, with photos, and provide to Planet Ultra the Strava links, which must be posted with privacy settings set to “everyone.”

What does it cost, and what’s included?

Your entry fee of $150 (per person) includes:  Event tee, Hoodoo 500 window sticker, finisher jersey and finisher metal (all of which will be mailed to you after the event once jerseys are ready). Your finish and finish time will be included in the webcast and final results in the “virtual” category.
